You Are Powerful Beyond Your Imagination (Law of Attraction - Part 2) | March 7th, 2009

By Clint Griess

In last month’s newsletter (February 2007, “Attraction: The Universal Law”), I introduced many of you to the Universal Law of Attraction and offered some resources for you to explore it further. The response was incredible, and nearly everyone found something new and valuable in considering that like attracts like in all things. In particular, people got present to the amount of negativity that they actually tolerate in their lives and the cost of being negative. When faced with this new awareness, ironically, a good number of people began to worry about the impact all their seemingly automatic, negative thinking and about how to stop it. Well, there’s good news. Those negative thoughts are no match for you.

The Universe We Live In Is Friendly

According to the Law of Attraction, all of existence tends toward well-being. This includes you. So, you can rest assured knowing that, despite your negative thoughts, the universe is perpetually expanding and moving toward well-being for everyone and everything. The Law of Attraction also says that you are free, you are powerful, and you have purpose and value. If you can see this now, you will realize that any negative thinking only slows you down. As soon as you let go of any negativity, it’s like removing your foot from the the break, and you resume full-speed, positive manifestation.

"Don't Wants": A Great Place to Visit

You’ll also be relieved to learn that all our “don’t wants” carry much less weight than our positive thoughts. Yes, thoughts like “I don’t want to lose my job” or “I don’t want make my partner upset” will inevitably lead to the very thing you do not want. Every time you create a desire, however, and express it in the affirmative, this desire will overpower any negative thoughts to the contrary. Affirmative desires have a greater magnitude of power to manifest because of what it takes to create. Affirmative desires require you to create. With “don’t wants”, you are simply asking for the negation of something that already exists as a possibility in the universe. There’s exceptional power in creating something that does not exist yet even if it’s just a thought. When you invent an affirmative desire from nothing, you add to the ever expanding universe as it tends to well-being in all things.

Now you can start to see “don’t wants” as actually being helpful. In the process of manifesting what you want in your life, it’s OK to start with what you don’t want. This will help you clarify what you do want. For example, you may say "I don't want to procrastinate anymore." That's a start. Then, your job is ask yourself what you do want. If you were not procrastinating, what would be possible? Then, you can say "I want to accomplish all that's important to me with ease and efficiency" or "I want to honor my word and fulfill my commitments as they were intended." If you find yourself showered with “don’t wants”, your job is to acknowledge them, even write them down, and then ask yourself “What do I want?” As long as you only visit the world of “don’t wants”, you can stay on the affirmative, creative side of life.

Where Do You Live?

Another important thing to recognize about the Law of Attraction is that it is not all black and white. We may speak of positive or negative thoughts and feelings for brevity, and in the end your “vibrations” fall on a continuum. Remember that your emotions are indicators of your vibrational frequency. Imagine a gauge or scale with gradations or degrees which indicate the position of your emotional vibration.

According to the inspiring book "Ask and It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks, an emotional scale would look something like this:

    1. Joy/Knowledge/Empowerment/Freedom/Love/Appreciation
    2. Passion
    3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
    4. Positive Expectation/Belief
    5. Optimism
    6. Hopefulness
    7. Contentment
    8. Boredom
    9. Pessimism
    10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
    11. “Overwhelment”
    12. Disappointment
    13. Doubt
    14. Worry
    15. Blame
    16. Discouragement
    17. Anger
    18. Revenge
    19. Hatred/Rage
    20. Jealousy
    21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
    22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

With this kind of sensitivity to the full range of emotional experiences, you can begin to see where you tend to. Look back at this list above and ask yourself which emotions are most familiar to you. Check to see if there’s a range you live within perhaps with occasional experiences outside your “default” places. This awareness alone has made all the difference for many people.

You are powerful beyond your imagination. According to the Law of Attraction, when you take a creative, affirmative approach to your life, you will necessarily get what you want. Negative thinking and “don’t wants” only slow you down. You are perfect, whole and part of an ever expanding universe that is tending toward well-being. There’s nothing that can stop you!
