On the centennial of Mahatma Gandhi's first non-violent actions for peace, LA Air America Radio's Harrison organized an historic event: The launch of a year-long series of international peace parades.
United Nations Associations in Southern and Northern California celebrated this premiere event in which Arun Gandhi, the 72 year old peace activist grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, lead the parade. Mr. Gandhi, lifelong at his grandfather's side, from revolution through assassination, was personally schooled in Mahatma's teachings. Arun Gandhi was joined by Harrison, Doris Roberts, Mimi Kennedy, Hal Sparks, Aaron Russo and other celebrities, and musicians in this historic Parade for Peace.
The idea for the Parade for Peace was initiated by Harrison, the award-winning host of “Harrison on the Edge” on Progressive Talk AM 1150, during a conversation with Arun Gandhi.
The Parade for Peace took place on Saturday, October 28th in Hollywood (at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine) at Noon. The parade continued up Hollywood Boulevard to Sunset and Cole Place.
Congratulations Harrison!
